GEMA's One Minute Weather Outlook for Wednesday, May 16, 2012.


Hazardous Weather Outlook:
The eastern half of the state will see scattered storms this afternoon and evening. In north Georgia, storms will be concentrated mostly east of a line from Commerce to Cordele. South central Georgia will also see scattered storms. The most active area will be in southeast Georgia, with the frequency and intensity increasing in the late afternoon and evening hours. Some of these storms may be strong or severe, with frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, hail, and damaging wind gusts.


Today:

Partly cloudy with a chance of showers and storms. Highs in the 80s for most of the state; the mountains will remain in the 70s.



The weather will remain unsettled for Georgia today with a chance of scattered showers and storms, especially to the east. Some storms in the southeast may become strong or severe, with frequent lightning, brief heavy rainfall, hail, and gusty or damaging winds. The primary time for storm development will be from mid-afternoon through the evening hours. Otherwise, skies will be partly cloudy today with highs in the 80s, and 70s in the mountains. Tonight, expect a continued chance of showers and storms with lows in the 50s and 60s.

Extended Weather Outlook:
There is a chance of storms today and tomorrow. Storms today will be concentrated in east Georgia; some in the southeast may become strong or severe.
