Charley English


Charley English was appointed director of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) on February 2006, after serving in the agency since 1996. In addition to his role as the director of GEMA, Mr. English also serves as the State's Homeland Security Director. He also serves as the chairman of the State Emergency Operations Command and State’s Homeland Security Task Force.

Mr. English earned his Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Clayton Junior College, his bachelor's degree in Public and Urban Affairs from Georgia State University and his master's degree in Homeland Security and Defense from the Naval Postgraduate School where he was awarded the Professor Phillip Zimbardo Award.
