Q. How do I report suspicious activity?
A. All suspicious activity should be reported to your local law enforcement.

Q. What are your employment opportunities?

Q. How do I become a vendor with the state?
A. Vendor information is on the Department of Administrative Services site, visit http://www.doas.georgia.gov for more information.


Training
Q. Who do I call to ask questions concerning training?
A. GEMA Training Office at (478) 993-4612.

Q. How do I apply for a Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) training course?
A. You may apply online by going to GEMA’s training registration website by clicking here.

Q. I've applied online for a GEMA training course that is offered at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) and have not received a response. When will I receive a response?
A. Course participants are selected 30 days prior to each course at which time emails are sent to all applicants advising them of their status (accepted, standby or turned down).

Q. How do I schedule a GEMA field delivered course?
A. Submit a Request for Training Form 2-1 to the GEMA Training Office. The form must be signed by the local EMA Director.

Q. Who do I call for information on Office of Domestic Preparedness (ODP) training courses?
A. GEMA Training Office at (478) 993-4613.

Terrorism Grants and Training
Q. How do I apply for a homeland security grant?
A. Please contact the All Hazards Council located in your GEMA area. The information is located under the All Hazards Council tab of the website.

Q. How do I request an extension to a current homeland security grant?
A. Please contact your assigned grants manager as noted in the sub-grantee agreement sent with the original award documents.

Q. When does my grant expire?

Q. How do I request training courses or technical assistance from the US Department of Homeland Security?

Q. How do I receive information on NIMSCAST?
A. Contact the Homeland Security Division Training Manager Wayne Smith at 404-635-7237 or Wayne.Smith@gema.ga.gov

Q. How do I become a member of the Type III Incident Management Team (IMT) in my area?
A. Contact Ronnie Register at 404-635-7222 or ronnie.register@gema.ga.gov

Public Assistance
Q. How do I apply for food stamps?
A. GEMA’s Public Assistance Division does not issue food stamps. However, we recommend contacting your residing county Department of Family and Children Services (DFACS).

Q. Can you help me find a place to stay?
A. GEMA’s Public Assistance Division does not assist with housing relocation. However, we recommend contacting the housing authority in the county of interest.

Q. I have a rotten tree in my yard, can help me to take it down?
A. GEMA’s Public Assistance Division does not assist with the removal of trees/debris from private property.

Q. Can you help transfer my Section 8 housing/housing authority from one state to another?
A. GEMA’s Public Assistance Division does not assist with housing relocation. However, we recommend contacting the housing authority in the county of interest.

Q. What types of grants are managed by the Public Assistance Division?
A. State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSP), Urban Area Security Initiative Grant Program (UASI), Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program (LETPP), Buffer Zone Protection Program (BZPP), Citizen Corps (CCP) and Metropolitan Medical Response System (MMRS).

Q. What number do I call to reach a public information officer?
A. Call 1-800-TRY-GEMA (879-4362) and ask to speak to a public information officer (PIO). The PIO on duty will be paged.

Q. How do I submit a media inquiry?
A. On the GEMA Web site homepage under the Media Center tab, click on Submit an Inquiry to complete your request.
